Complexity for the sake of Complexity?

Today I am working on Day 16 of the Ultimate Blog Challenge, I woefully admit to falling behind. I got caught up trying to figure how to embed a video on my website for the 15th day of the Ultimate Blog Challenge. It ended up being as simple as posting the video on Facebook and using the embedded link option, but my journey to get to a 5-minute solution, including uploading the video, was hours of research over 3 days.

It has been said that I love to complicate things, not by choice, but my mind just seems to go the way of a long-term permanent solution, rather than a quick fix! I find myself thinking, well if I did that, then 3 years from now I would have this… Three years, who cares about 3 years, apparently, I do. Complex for the sake of complex? I am giving myself permission right here and now to stop the madness.

My journey to find a solution included many internet searches, getting a free trial for a premium YouTube account, which I need to decide if I want to continue after the trial… Not sure if the world is ready for my YouTube channel. What do you think, would you spend your free time watching me create and teach and you creating with me? It is something I feel I need to do at some point. But right now, I am not sure, am I again thinking 3 years from now!

I did not find the ability to do what I hoped to do with YouTube, although I am sure I just did not see the solution that was probably staring me in the face.

It is funny, it took one of those shower moments to solve the problem. You know where your head is covered in shampoo and suddenly the solution to your problem pops into your head, but there is no way to try the solution without suds getting in your eyes. Also, phones do not work so well in the shower, not that I have tried, but I do know they do not work well after a swim in the lake. Yes, I dropped my phone in the lake, that is another story. The solution of Facebook came to me in the shower and it proved to be the answer. This morning I uploaded the video, clicked copy the link to embed and voila the link worked in my blog entry. Success on the 4th day.

Leave me a comment, do you overcomplicate solutions? Let me know your thoughts!
